Broadway Theatre League Announces New Season

By Abigail Harrison, DHI Communications Coordinator

Broadway Theatre League announced its 2023-2024 season lineup, and it features some classic shows that theater and movie fans are sure to love.

Established in 1959, Broadway Theatre League brings in national, touring Broadway shows and concerts. It started its performances at the original Huntsville High School, before moving to the Von Braun Center to take the stage at Mark C. Smith Concert Hall.

The 2023-2024 season kicked off on October 18 with Johnny Cash - The Official Concert Experience. Fans can go ahead and purchase tickets to the next musical, Come From Away, which tells the true story of a small town coming together after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, premiering October 27-29.

Along with the 2023-2024 performances, the theater also hosts shows for its Student Outreach Program. The program fosters art education by allowing students to experience free theater performances and Broadway shows. The Student Outreach Program shows include The Underwater Bubble Show on October 24 and Giraffes Can’t Dance on February 2.

According to Wil Elrick, Director of Marketing and Creative Services for Broadway Theatre League, the theater functions to help improve the quality of life of citizens in Huntsville. Elrick encourages people to come out and attend a performance because any person can takeaway a special meaning from each show.

“When you come to the theater, you can see and experience shows that watching on television or reading about them in a book is not the same,” Elrick said. “You are there physically participating in the story by watching it come to life at the theater.”
