The Blind Tiger: Downtown’s New Luxury Event Space

By Abigail Harrison, DHI Communications Coordinator

A new luxury event center is now open in downtown Huntsville. The Blind Tiger is a conveniently located venue that can host corporate events, wedding showers, happy hour socials, holiday parties, and more.

Owner Angela Panzica saw the demand for a downtown event center. Her other business, Stella’s Elixir Lounge, has branded itself as a destination location, and she did not want to change its structure, so she decided to create a new space with a unique atmosphere.

“There’s been a change in culture in Huntsville, where sometimes people in Huntsville were going to other places, but now these places are coming to Huntsville,” Panzica said. “So, that’s kind of the testament to our growth in the city, and we started discussing a private event space.”

The name of the venue comes from a prohibition term to indicate a hidden speakeasy. In the 1920s, stores would have hidden images of animals throughout the building to signalize to people that a speakeasy was nearby.

Panzica wanted to play into this prohibition feel with The Blind Tiger by creating a space that masquerades as the event venue. The entrance of the event space is a facade storefront, with a long hallway leading into the event room and to a full service bar.

The space can hold up to 200 people, making it suitable for small to medium sized events. There is a bar on-site, and catering and entertainment can be brought in for events. It is located at 113 Clinton Avenue, which is in walking distance to three parking garages. The storefront is marked with a new tiger mural by artist Ryan Benefield.
